- Cyclone Fengal formed over the Bay of Bengal (Nov 23, 2024) and made landfall on Dec 1, 2024, hitting Tamil Nadu & Puducherry.
- 1.5 crore people and 69 lakh families affected; 12 lives lost.
- Over 2,416 huts & 721 houses destroyed, 2.11 lakh hectares of crops lost, and 963 cattle killed.
- In Puducherry, 1.5 lakh houses submerged, 4,637 homes seriously damaged, and 976 fishing boats destroyed, devastating farmers and fishermen.





Sewa International Relief Mission
Sewa International launched a month-long urgent relief and rehabilitation mission focused on restoring safety, dignity, and livelihoods.
Key strategies included needs assessment, transparent beneficiary selection, direct logistics, community coordination with Panchayats, and continuous monitoring.

Sewa’s Response
Sewa International took on the challenge of addressing the needs of the flood-impacted population.
The relief activities were planned on short notice, with the ground network team covering the affected areas. Logistics and procurement were handled locally in Chennai to ensure a quicker relief drive.
The items were transported to target locations and managed at eight warehouses, with the support of 20 local volunteers.
The distribution was officially launched at the Chennai Corporation Office, where 8 truckloads of relief items were flagged off.
Action Taken :
- Food Security: Sewa International distributed Ration Kits to 2,100 affected families to meet their immediate nutritional needs. The kits were meant to last for 3 to 4 weeks for a family of 4 to 5 members and included essential items like rice, flour, pulses, cooking oil, and spices.
- Relief Kits: Relief Kits were distributed to 3,200 affected families in various locations. The kits included clothing, hygiene care items, first-aid supplies, mattresses, and tools.
- Educational Continuity: School Kits were provided to 1,000 vulnerable children to ensure the continuation of their education. The kits contained a school bag, notebooks, stationery, and other items.
- Community Engagement: The ground team coordinated with village community leaders and local volunteers to organize distribution camps. A total of 276 local volunteers, aged 20 to 65, were engaged in the relief efforts, from arranging materials in warehouses to assisting in distribution.

Cyclone Biparjoy 2023
Gujarat was struck by Cyclone 'Biparjoy', the second major cyclone in just two years following the disastrous Cyclone Tauktae in 2021.


Distribution of Ration Kits
Families hit by the crisis face homelessness, loss of livelihoods, and food insecurity. To support them, Ration Kits with rice, flour, pulses, oil, sugar, tea, milk powder, and essentials will be distributed. Each kit sustains a family of 4–5 for 3–4 weeks, reaching 250 beneficiary families.
School Education Kits
Disasters disrupt homes, livelihoods, and children’s education, causing trauma and long-term setbacks. To ensure continuity in learning, Sewa International will distribute School Education Kits—including bags, notebooks, stationery, and essentials—to 250 children. These kits will help restore stability, dignity, and hope by supporting uninterrupted quality education.
Skill Development & Vocational Training
Cyclone Biparjoy damaged homes, crops, and livelihoods. Sewa International aids 50 identified beneficiaries with training in carpentry, tailoring, plumbing, and computer skills, helping them secure jobs, launch small businesses, and build sustainable, resilient, and economically independent lives.
Uttarakhand Glacier Burst 2021

Uttarakhand Glacier Burst - Feb 2021
On 7th February 2021, a glacier burst in the Nandadevi range, leading to devastating floods in the valley areas of Tapovan, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Srinagar in Uttarakhand.
Initial estimates indicated that more than 200 lives were lost in the Tapovan area alone.
While rescue operations were underway, with our teammates on the ground, we were also coordinating immediate relief efforts to support those affected in the aftermath.
Our internal assessments suggested that over 150 villages were likely impacted, with extensive damage to homes, crops, livestock, and infrastructure.
We urged people to donate and support the people of Uttarakhand in their time of need, helping provide relief and aid in the areas affected by the #UttarakhandFloods2021.





Cyclone Amphan 2020

Super-Cyclone Amphan Relief
While battling the Coronavirus pandemic, the coastal states of Odisha and West Bengal were hit by Super-Cyclone Amphan. Boats, crops, and houses were destroyed, electric poles and trees uprooted, leaving people without power. Water-logging and waste drainage created potential Covid-19 hotspots, adding to the crisis.
Sewa International, with on-ground partners and volunteers, were committed to supporting the affected people.

Maharashtra Flood 2019










Incessant rains, flood wreak havoc in Maharashtra resulting in several districts being isolated due to heavy rainfall, which killed more than 55 people in the first few days of the disaster. Among the districts, Sangli and Kolhapur were the worst affected districts in the state. The torrential rains in Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts of western Maharashtra destroyed many kharif crops as well as sugarcane. Preliminary estimates showed that farmland of about 40,000 hectares were completely flattened in Satara district alone.
Volunteers of Being Volunteer Foundation, our partner organization were tirelessly engaged in search and rescue operations, the relief materials collection and distribution in the flood hit areas specially Sangli and Kolhapur as follows :
